Frozen food

Cut a complete strip from the tops of bags of frozen food & use them as ties when returning food to freezer.

Ice cream

Even soft scoop ice cream can get hard when some is removed. To prevent this scrunch up a freezer bag to fill the space & the ice cream will stay soft.

Shoes rubbing against heels.

If a new pair of shoes are rubbing against your heels, spread some vaseline around the inside of the back of the shoe.

Any waxy or greasy substance will do, I have used lip balm before.

Another method is to hit the inside of the heels of the shoe with a hammer, this is supposed to break down the molecules, though I don’t know what damage it does to the shoe!

Edit: Typos corrected. Also note that I don’t endorse any such silly psuedo science as “break down the molecules” – Ian.

Styes

To cure a sty place a cold brewed teabag on it every day until the sty disappears. I don’t know if this works as I’ve never had a sty.

Apple pie

For a tastier apple pie spoon 1 tablespoonfull of golden syrup or honey over the apples.

Alternatively add 1 0z of sultanas & 1 teaspoonfull of cinnamon.

Or add them all.

Hand scrub

Create a cheap & effective hand scrub by mixing 1 teaspoon full of sugar & 1 of salt with a medium portion of cheap hand cream.

Dampen hands then rub mixture in well. Rinse off with warm water.

If honey is available add 1 teaspoonfull to the mix to help to soften hands.
